Use me as a sounding board
There’s a concept that software developers often use called “rubber duck debugging”. They’ll have a rubber duck on their desk and when they come up against a problem or bug that they can’t figure out, they’ll explain it to the duck. In the process of articulating the challenge out loud, they often come up with a solution. So think of me as your extra helpful duck that actually talks back 🦆
You don’t even need to have a specific problem, you can just use the time to chat through some ideas! I’m launching with an introductory price of C$85 (£50) whilst I get started so if you like a bargain, treat yourself to the gift of clarity.
How does it work?
When you’re ready, book a time that suits you through my Calendly scheduling tool, and pay online ahead of the session. You’ll get a calendar invitation email that will include a Zoom link for our call.
When you book, there will also be a space for you to give an overview of what you want to chat about, but if this changes when we talk then that’s absolutely fine too.
On the call, I’ll give you as much or as little input as you like. I can spot patterns, offer creative solutions to problems, give advice or gently challenge you (for example, questioning your assumptions over whether something is possible or not).
If you would like feedback I’m very happy to give it, but do bear in mind that I might not be your target customer and it’s just one person’s opinion. I’m pretty honest so I won’t just lie and tell you what you want to hear, but I’m kind and constructive with how I share my thoughts.

Frequently imagined questions
-
Definitely! I found it really helpful to chat to other people when planning and launching all of my various projects so I definitely recommend it to help set yourself up for success (whatever that looks like to you).
-
Yes, you 100% can. I don’t hate money, and in fact it’s pretty much essential for running a sustainable business. I just want to challenge the narrative that it’s the only way to measure success!
-
I’m on the west coast of Canada which is the Pacific time zone. Most of the time I’m 3 hours behind Toronto or New York and 8 hours behind the UK.
-
No, I don’t have any formal coaching qualifications (although it’s something that I’m considering) and the call isn’t a coaching session. It’s a chance for you to talk through an idea or challenge, and/or get feedback and advice from me if you want it.

Rescheduling is never a problem, even if it’s near the time of the call. You can book another time through the rescheduling link on your calendar invite, which is the easiest option. But if you have any issues, you can get in touch with me on hello@happywork.club or DM me on Instagram @happyworkclub.
I don’t offer refunds for cancellations so you can either choose another time, donate the call to someone you know, or you can pay it forward and I can offer the space to someone who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Not at all. As someone who experiences anxiety I totally get that it can make the difference between showing up or not. So I’m happy to use whatever format make you the most comfortable. But do know that there is absolutely no judgement if you do have you camera on and you don’t have the “perfect” Zoom setup. Calls from bed are welcome!
-
I’ve got you. There’s a tool called Async that we can use to share voice notes and/or typed comments. I’ll just keep track of my time and let you know when we’re approaching an hour.
-
Yes, probably! I will definitely want to. Always feel free to ask. You can get in touch via email at hello@happywork.club or DM me on Instagram @happyworkclub.
-
I offer discounted rates to anyone from marginalised groups, including but not limited to 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities. Contact me on hello@happywork.club or DM me on Instagram @happyworkclub to find out more.

I’ve not been employed by someone else for quite a while (10+ years) so I’m more familiar with the challenges facing small businesses, but if you’re fine with that then yes!
-
If you’re based anywhere in the vicinity of Port Alberni on Vancouver Island then yes, absolutely! If you’d like me to come to you (or meet in the middle) then I’ll ask you to cover my travel costs as well.
